What is the situation and what is the story? Are they one and the same?

For this short, two-day creative non-fiction writing workshop, we are inviting writers who identify as queer to write with Niranjan Kunwar, author of Nepal’s first queer memoir, Between Queens and the Cities. In this workshop, you will work through a series of generative writing exercises that will help you answer the question: how does one write from personal experience?

Who is eligible to apply?
Writers who identify as being queer.

What is queer?
The dictionary definition of the word “queer” is “strange, peculiar, odd.” Originally used to describe non-heterosexual and non cisgendered folk, there is a strong reclaiming of this word today, especially by the LGBTQI+ community. But the word “queer” is intentionally vague and we would like to add diversity to the meaning and use of the word “queer”-- a separation from the “mainstream,” or moving beyond what is considered “normal.”
